(Beijing, April 19) World Cup runners-up Brazil grabbed the last spot for the Beijing Olympic women's soccer tournament after thrashing Ghana 5-1 this evening at Beijing Workers' Stadium.

Brazilian Cristiane wasted a goal chance three minutes into the match. In the 19th minute, FIFA World Player of the Year Marta opened the scoring with a curling free-kick. Cristiane made it 2-0 in the 42nd minute.

Ghana's substitution was in vain in the second half as Brazil extended the lead to 3-0 on Aline's header direct from a corner in the 53rd minute.

Cristiane scored in the 71st minute with her teammate Rosana making it 5-0 only one minute later.

The Africans' efforts in attacking were repaid when Anita Amankwa scored the only goal for Ghana in the 75th minute.
