Yesterday morning, the safety inspection work for Good Luck Beijing has been officially kicked off. Olympic Security Command Center Anti-explosion Safety Inspection Command Department has conducted an all-round safety inspection to Shunyi Olympic Aquatic Park. It was learned that about 12,000 workers would be engaged in anti-explosion and safety inspection for Beijing 2008's safety inspection work, in order to have a comprehensive inspection to above 200 sites involved into the Olympic Games.

Underwater robot to be introduced in October

At the dock of Shunyi Olympic Aquatic Park, frogmen wearing dark blue diving suit successively jumped into the water, and everyone held one yellow floating substance (the underwater propeller) on hand, by which, the divers can have speedy scanning to underwater hazardous article.

Subsequently, another group of frogmen equipped with oxygen cylinder dived into water and immediately disappeared. Such group aims to have prudent safety inspection to critical underwater places, and they all carry over 10 kilograms of underwater radio communication equipment.

Meanwhile, the third group of frogmen is standing at the dock to fulfill their task. They are carrying long-arm detector on hand, and the other end of the detector was bent into a right angle, which will be extended into the water area under the dock. There is one yellow box on the neck of these frogmen, and screen of the box will clearly display the water condition under the dock.

It was revealed that there are nearly 50 divers enforcing safety inspection by far, and next year, such figure will increase to about 100. Additionally, underwater robot will be introduced into safety inspection work by October this year.

About 800 persons are allowed to pass the safety inspection door per hour, and it is mandatory for vehicles to run across a decelerate belt before entering the park. Only the light on decelerate belt is on, can the vehicles be allowed to pass. It was learned that all instruments employed in safety inspection are world most advanced. Unlike the previous manual operation, the detector is installed on the access decelerate belt for vehicle inspection, in this way, Under Vehicle Inspection can be completed when the vehicle is moving across the decelerate belt.

It was introduced that Safety Inspection Door is able to conduct safety inspection to 800 persons and 400 journalists in about one hour, and the vehicle inspection passage is capable of inspecting 60 vehicles per hour. In addition, volunteers receiving professional training will fulfill most of the inspection work.

Eight items of Olympic security work should be stressed for testing, and above 200 places involved in Olympic Games will be inspected for safety; therefore, about over 7,000 professional facilities are needed in stadiums, and it is predicted that 12,000 workers should be employed.

During the period of holding Good Luck Beijing sports event, the city will fix eyes to conduct eight items of tests like place safety inspection, equipment preparation, command system, temporary safety inspection affair, safety inspection affair direction, training, site dealing, and safety inspection policy & plan.

According to international practices, all personnel and vehicles entering the stadium will be inspected. In the event that the prohibited goods (guns, controlled knives and radioactive articles) have been detected, the goods will be confiscated, and related personnel will suffer penalty. In addition, the following articles, such as soft-package beverage, above 1 meter of flagstaff, screwdriver, pliers and iron stick, as well as radio station failing to pass the certification of related departments of Olympic Games, are forbidden to be carried into stadium without the permission.
