(BEIJING, November 7) -- The National Stadium, nicknamed the "Bird's Nest," will hold two Good Luck Beijing sport events in April and May next year, according to a press conference in Beijing on Wednesday.

From April 18-19, it will host IAAF Race Walking Challenge with three events, namely 20km and 50km for men and 20km for women; from May 22-25 it will stage China Open Athletics Championships, which includes 42 Olympic track and field events and four Paralympic wheelchair events, the organizers said.

Since the main stadium of the Beijing Olympics will be first open to the outside world and the Olympic standards will be applied to the China Open, the organizers need to pay great attention to the events, said Liu Jingmin, executive vice-president of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG).

"We need to make the venue a refined project, prepare model management teams, and provide individualized services to bring a warm "Bird's Nest" to spectators," he told the organizers.
