(BEIJING, November 7) -- The IOC (international Olympic Committee) and international sport federations (IFs) saw success in Good Luck Beijing sport events so far, an organizer said on Wednesday.

The appraisal report gave high marks on the venue conditions and the organization of sport competitions, as well as the operations of technical systems, according to Yang Shu'an, executive vice-president of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) and deputy head of the organizing committee of the Good Luck Beijing sports events.

Generally speaking, he told a press conference at the Beijing Olympic Media Center, the tasks of competition organization and testing for the current stage have been fulfilled thanks to close cooperation of local governments, venue owners, constructors and operation teams.

The events proved that the "hardware facilities" including the venues and technical systems can meet the operational demands of the Olympic Games; the managing teams have been trained; the volunteers have played their important role in the process; and the operations of the venues progressed in tandem with that of the municipal government, with security, transport, municipal administration, environment and hygiene, medical, catering, accommodation and other services all in place, he said.

In response to the proposals by the IOC and IFs, the organizers will attach greater importance to upgrading games service norms, integrating work processes, improving special services, and enhancing emergency-response systems, in addition to modifying some aspects of the "hardware facilities" aiming to rationalize their functions, Yang added.

Among the 42 Good Luck Beijing sport events planned for 2007 and 2008, 26 are scheduled to be held this year. So far 19 of them have been completed. The events have attracted 4,514 athletes, 1,068 IF and technical officials, 11,539 journalists and 250,000 spectators.
