(Beijing, November 15) The women's 52kg competition of the "Good luck Beijing" 2007 Beijing Judo Open concluded this evening, with Caroline Lantoine of France winning the title, followed by Erika Miranda of Brazil and Xiao Jun of China.

Caroline Lantoine and Erika Miranda met in the women's 52kg gold-medal match after beating their respective opponents, Natalia Kuzyutina of Russia and Bundmaa Munkhbaatar of Mongolia, in their group repechage finals. At the beginning of the final match, both of them were cautious and tried to feel out each other's intention. 39 seconds into the match the French judoka launched a sudden attack to throw her opponent to the ground to earn an "ippon" and the gold medal.

In the bronze-medal contest A against Bundmaa Munkhbaatar of Mongolia, China's Xiao Jun made short work of it with an "ippon" within just one minute to take the bronze, the first medal for China at the ongoing tournament. In another bronze-medal contest, Xiao's teammate Li Hongye, who had also managed to come back to the scene after the repechage final, was beaten by Natalia Kuzyutina of Russia.
